The first five years of a child’s life set the foundation for lifelong health, learning, and success. Yet, not all children receive equitable opportunities to achieve their full potential. The Illinois Risk and Reach Report conducts a county-level analysis of risk factors that undermine optimal child development and compares them to the reach of publicly funded programs and services that support early childhood well-being. By analyzing Risk and Reach across three domains of child well-being –family stability, health, and early care and education –the Report provides a holistic view of how well the needs of young children are being met.
